The Caritas Diocese of Maumere (CKM) not only organized a training for villagers and village official, they also initiated a training activity for their staff. The objective is to teach and to socialize Ushahidi, a platform that can be used to record and report any events in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara. CKM staff will try to make some categories for each event that will be reported in Ushahidi. They then must input events or objects as a report in Ushahidi website. This activity held on 26-27 April 2017, in CKM office building. This training was attended by 17 staff of CKM consist of 10 men and 7 women.
During the first day, CKM staff learned about Ushahidi. Ushahidi is a platform that can be used to collect reports from all events in any place. We can classify all reports based on the category defined before. HOT ID Team already provide Ushahidi platform specific for CKM staff. But before they can learn their own Ushahidi platform, all CKM staff need to learned about basic Ushahidi from Project MURIA, so they can learn about interface and how to make a report using Ushahidi.
After understanding the basic features of Ushahidi, CKM staff needs to define categories for each report that will be recorded, so all reports can be classified based on their own category. Each category defined is based on priority program organized by CKM and what kind of information they want to show on the website. The categories are:Program
Having determined desired categories, all participants need to search for activities, moments, events, points of interest, or any information they know to be put on Ushahidi the next training day.
On the second day, all participants tried to make a report using Ushahidi from all the data they have researched before. They need to classify the report based on each category defined. After afternoon snack, some of the CKM staff learned how to manage and organize Ushahidi platform as an admin. This activity limited for selected staff only. All staff selected as an admin learned how to set up a category, make a question form, changing icon for each category, and also how to approve a report.
